JEFFORDS HORSES TRAINING J Fifteen Thoroughbreds, in Rugged Condition, Start Work at Havre de Grace. . HAVRE M CKACE, Md.. April 4— The fifteen horses of W. M. Jeffords which arrived at the local track last week are now working daily and should round into condition in time for the Havre de Grace meeting. It. A. Smith, who has been engaged to train the 1 stable this year, is dividing his attention between his own Sunnyland Stable horses at Bowie and the Jeffords horses here. He plans to race his own hor-.es at Bowie and Havre de Grace, disposing of liani as rapidly as possible. Any that remain in his hands at the end of the local meeting will be sold at auction at Pimlieo. The Jeffords horses eaaaa through the w later in good condition and although they look rather roiigi. to the casual eye the tl oroughbreds are expected lo round into racing condition in short order. .1 The stable will start the spring season at Havre v de Grace. They will alaa race at Iimlico b"fore i proceediag to New York. Tin ir New York campaign , will begin with the Belmont Park meeting. , Trainer Smith will center his efforts on the ■table*! Derby and Preakaen candidate, Macduff, which has filled out well during tie- winter. The colt appears a trifle high in weigh!, but this will I be i|Ukkly remedied when he gets down to steady I work. Whether he will go in the Derby or 1reak- aeM will not be decided uutil u few days before May 13. . The bulk of the stables riding will bp entrusted . to L. Morris.
