♦ * JUDGMENT AGAINST BUTWELL Through failing to appear at New York County Court last Saturday, judgment by default for 123,134 was entered against jockey James Butvvell. Suit was brought against the rider by Edward A. McKittrick for careless handling of his automobile on Central Iark West on July 26, 1919, resulting in a collision in which McKittrick was injured. Butwell filed an answer when sued denying the alleged carelessness and made counter charges against the plaintiff. He failed, however, to defend the suit when it was called for trial and McKittrick was awarded S25.O0O damages and J 134 accrued costs.
