OFFER ENTERTAINING CARD Jamaicas Monday Program Pro ¬ vides Some Excellent Racing Lord Brighton and All Over Score ScoreImpressively Impressively in Principal PrincipalContests Contests NEW YORK N Y May 22 It was an entertaining card offered by the Metropolitan Jockey Club for Mondays racing though the stake feature was for selling platers it being the Empire State Selling Handicap at three quarters and Lord Brighton from the Kan cocas Stable was winner from Walter M Jeffords Routledge with E Siestas Elected II the one to finish third In addition to this there was a tryout for threeyearolds over the mile and seventy yards and the other fields of the day furnished good con ¬ tests for an offday of sport The track was fast and it was a summeriike day that made the outing a most enjoyable one for the sur ¬ prising crowd that was present presentThe The action of Routledge in breaking through the barrier was responsible for the long delay at the post in the Empire State feature and when the start came St Allan wheeled and was away so badly that he had no racing chance chanceElected Elected II and Lord Brighton rushed out and set a fast pace from the start soon drawing away to a lead of three lengths from Routledge which was showing the way to the others othersAfter After swinging out of the backstretch Pen ¬ man rushed Elected II along to such good advantage that she held Lord Brighton but Sande was content to have the son of Ballot bice alongside the mare without trying to draw away from her Then as she swung for home he shook up the Rancocas Stables sprinter and he went into a lead of a Jouple of lengths Routledge made his bid through the stretch and was closing with fcich a determined rush that Sande had to fit and ride Lord Brighton out to have him home winner by three parts of a length Elected II hung on well after having been hard at it all the way and she was lapped on Routledge at the end and almost three lengths before Pride of India one that was making his initial start under the silks of Sam Louis who recently claimed him from Samuel Ross RossPKfE PKfE RACE FOU THE CHATHAM CHATHAMWhen When Hephaistos Emotion and Letterman were withdrawn from the mile and seventy yards of the Chatham it was generally agreed that the race had lost much of its attractive ¬ ness but four went to the post and an ex ¬ cellent contest resulted Incidentally it af ¬ forded James Fitzsimmons an opportunity to show another good threeyearold prospect from the Quincy Stable in AH Over a son of Zeus and Lassie LassieThe The Oak Ridge Stables Rose Hill was the pacemaker and John E Maddens Native Land was the one to chase after her all the way On the first turn Native Land lost a deal of ground by swinging wide while All Over was so slow to be under way that he was following Chesterbrook which was a couple of lengths back of the fillies that were showing the way wayIn In the racing through the back stretch Rose Hiil continued to show the way and Native Land as readily held to second place Going to the threeeighths post Lang made his first move with Native Land and she moved up slightly on Rose Hill but she was Etill losing ground by going wider than was necessary Chesterbrook was doing his best and he could come no closer But All Over in his steady gaaop was beginning to draw up on the other three threePonce Ponce was racing All Over along on the Inner rail and he was going along fast but he still had considerable ground to close before being a serious contender Tne chance came on the turn for home when an opening was found and All Over was gal ¬ loping as fast as he had oeen in the first quarter while both of the fillies were tiring Inside of the final eighth All Over found his way through and at the end he was under restraint to win going away by a couple of lengths lengthsETASSATT ETASSATT TAKES OPENER OPENERMax Max Hirschs Nassau the brown son of Nassovian and Phllistia was an easy winner of the fiveeighths dash for selling plater twoyearolds that was the opening contest J L Hollands Rork was an easy second and third went to J S Cosdens Reap The only other starters were the Sunnyland stables Haidee and the Syndicate stables Scare Crow CrowRork Rork ynt away from the barrier running and for a time he was showing the way but swinging out of the backstretch Nas 1 sau raced by him rather easily and once he Continued on third pace
