TURF AID SOCIETY REPORT j Annual Report of Queens County Body Shows Balance ot ,084.47 on Hand. NEW YORK, N. Y., December 28. One of the most active of turf charities and one e that has never failed in a quiet but substantial way to come to the assistance of those in need is the Queens County Turf Aid Society. " This society has been going along for r two years in its unostentatious way, doing -r great good, and only recipients of the help have had a real appreciation of what the society stands for. The recent annual report of John G. Cav-anagh, secretary and treasurer, shows a balance of ,084.47 in the bank and it is almost all made up of liberal contributions from turfmen, the most liberal of the year being one sportsman who contributed 00 anonymously. James F. Johnson is president of the society, with John G. Cavanagh the secretary and treasurer, while the executive committee, to which much credit is due, is composed of Thomas Welsh, chairman ; Thomas J. Healey, Edward Callahan, Michael Champion, Christopher J. Fitz Gerald, James Fitzsimmons, J. Simon Healy, Walter B. Jennings, Andrew J. Joyner, Sam Lewis, Jlax Marks, Thomas Shaw and John Walters. It is just such a society that is an eloquent testimonial of the charity which has ever been proverbial of those having to do with the breeding and the racing of the thoroughbred horse.
