Wards Kentueky Derby eligible Donges was removed as a possible starter in the Churchill Downs famous race when he sustained an injury this morning that will put him out of training for some time to come. The colt was just finishing a gallop at five-eighths when he struck himself and cut his quarter. He was returned to the barn in bad condition. The colt had been training in excellent fashion for the Derby and, although his trainer did not regard him as a formidable candidate, he was of the opinion that he stood an outside chance to capture the rich stake. Dongea started the opening day of the present meeting and finished third. It was an off day for Derby gallops and the colts were indulged only in slow gallops. Light on Time was the only one to be sent a mile, he covering the route in 1 : 4 :!•"■.-,. There were numerous fast gallops of other than Derby colts, the best of these being Kinburns mile in 1 :41%.
