FAIR GROUNDS NOTES j Dr. Finch operated upon Kumonin, a two-year-old, for wind trouble. Jockey L. McDermott, who suffered a fall from Kent L. in the fifth race Monday, decided to cancel his mounts for the afternoon and take a brief rest. A. S. Woodliffe, trainer of Caligula, was before the stewards prior to the first race, explaining why the "Burr" was left off his horse in the second race Monday. Twenty-seven horses were excluded from the first and second races for Wednesday. Fourteen came from the juvenile event for maidens, thus furnishing a fair idea as to the. number of young horses quartered here.
