PIMLICO ENTRIES BIG ♦ Total of 1,878 Nominations for Maryland Jockey Club Stakes. ♦ ■ Preakness Attracts 133 3 -Year-Olds; Record List for This Popular Feature. — — ♦ — ■ BARTIMORR. Md.. April 14.— The response of the horsemen throughout the country to the offering of the Maryland Jockey Club in the way of stakes to be run at the spring meeting, which opens at Pimlico en I Thursday, May 1. bespeaks the general appreciation of what is being done at the fa-j mous old track for the betterment of racing, | not alone in Maryland, but throughout the ! entire country. During the eleven days of the meeting, twelve fixtures will be run. The nominations for these, which closed last Tuesday, bought a record, not alone in the number of hor.-es entered but in the grade of those named. Practically every good horse of the Bast and West, as well as Canada, has been named to compete and the prediction that | the meeting in May will bring sport in keep-I ing with the best records of Pimlico is sure to be verified.
