Whitneys Mainmast ran the three-quarters in 1 10% in winning the Jockey Club Handicap today at Pimlico. This shaved a fifth off the track record made by Dominique in ; 1922 and equalled a year later by Time Kx-posure. Ooshawk finished second to the Superman six-year-old in the record-breaking , race. Wellfinder beat the others of a fast I fi dd. Ooshawk made the pace, but tired •when Soobie came alongside with Mainmast at the eighth post. Ponce tried an innovation astride Ten Minutes. He wore goggles. Wrangle won the Arlington Claiming Stakes, the most valuable contest on the Tuesday program at Pimlico. Mrs. F. Far-rars Seth colt was going away from Bees at the end of a mile and a sixteenth. Cray Cables finished third In a field of five. Bluffer and O. Henry completed the procession past the finish line. Albert Johnson had the mount on Wrangle, his second winner in as many races. Bees opened up on his opponents in the early running and made the pace easily. Oray Gables ran in second position to the stretch Straightening out, Johnson guided Wrangle close to the inner rail, and after saving ground, came inside of Cray Cables and outside of Bees to wear the latter down. The race was worth ,500 to the winner. Jumpers took the play away from the carded feature at Pimlico. Seven of them started in the Sporting Steeplechase, a race exclusively for importations under the International Steeplechase subscription. El Kantara won the race, beating Re Vignemale by three lengths. El Kantara came out of the draw to J. E Davis, who was the prime mover in the subscription plan. E« Vignemale belongs to Bayard Tick-erman. Woodley II. fin shed third in the colors of W. J. Salmon. Boatman and Tray-eon Trisough also finished. Shawn A Clanna snd Brittanic fell at the thirteenth and twelfth fences respectively. The masterly conditioning hand of Matt Bradv was noticeable in the victory of El Kantara. There are few more skilled in conditioning a jumper than Brady. Cheyenne also deserves credit for riding a good race on the five-veax-old sDn of Voter— Oppression 101 Kantara is fast on the flat and would have run his reserve out if Cheyenne had not taken him in hand early. Fencing clcanlv, the Voter gelding made all the pace. Easily he maintained the lead until Shawn A Clanna charged going to the twelfth trace. Shawn A Clanna was tiring and bob-ided in landing and El Kantara again drew awav. At the final jump he had Shawn A Clanna beaten when the latter felL J. 1ierce. who rode Shawn A Clanna. was knocked unconscious and removed to a hospital for examination. nose and a head separated the first from the second and third at the end of the fourth Taee. J. P. Polks Seths Flower finished Wood I.adv and Altissmr. were second and third. Altissimo lost ground coming around the l.-adeis into the stretch and tired slightly St the end.
