ATTORNEY SUFFERS DEFEAT Meets First Reverse After Four Consecutive Victories. Nimrod Wins His Third Straight Success In the Claiming Handicap, Fcaturo of Program. HAVANA, Cuba, Dec. 14. Attorney, after four straight victories since the opening of the present meeting, went down to defeat at Oriental Park today in the seventh race, finishing second to Eelmnn, while Peter Picrson was third. Though this race was not the feature of Sundays program, there was as much interest in it as the ,500 claiming handicap that was offered as the principal attraction. Attorneys consistent racing has made a favorable impression on racegoers here and it was hoped that he would make it five in a row. Dame Fortune, however, ruled otherwise and the Parson racer, though beaten, was not disgraced. The mile and a sixteenth of the claiming handicap fell to Bucado, the lop weight, which had scored a narrowly achieved victory in his only start here, that race evidently putting him on edge for todays contest. There were some fast sprinters engaged in the fiftli race at three-quarters and, after the smoke of battle had cleared, Nimrod was found to have lead his rivals home, this marking the third straight success of the three-year-old Under Fire gelding at this meeting. Nimrods triumph was only achieved after a game and valiant struggle with the result in doubt until the final strides. After racing End Man into defeat, Nimrod assumed command and at the end outlasted Little Smoke in a spirited drive, only a neck separating the pair as they crossed the winning line. qi.OSE IRISHES ABOUND. The second race produced a sparkling contest and an exceedingly close finish, in which Delia Robbia, from II. A. Cottons stable, crossed the winning line a neck in advance of Bobs Hope, while Gold Crump was third. The Avinner dominated the running throughout, but never got far aAvay from her rivals, being forced to do her best all the Avay to maintain her advantage. First it Avas Belle Fay that gave her stubborn battle, then Avhen the latter dropped back, Bobs Hope took up the task and fought it out stride for stride until passing the judges Avith the above mentioned results. Again in the third race there AAas a tight fit at the end Avhen Colossus beat Star Court by a nose. The latter appeared to haA-e the race at his mercy in the stretch Avhen he Avas four lengths in ndwqnce of the others, but tiring suddenly in the last eighth, Colossus caught and outgamed him to earn the decision in the final stride. No mistake Avas made in the selection of TriA-ate Peat as the probable Avinner of the fourth race. He Avon all the Avay as expected and Avas never seriously menaced. Miriam Wood finished second, Avhile Tom Saunders, Billy Gardner and Black Mask had a battle royal for the short end of the purse, Avitli the first mentioned being awarded the decision, inches separating the two at the end.
