Cassidy will deserve j all the eongratulaions that may come his i way, and more besides, for he has been the man behind the gun in the erection of. one of the finest racing plants ever erected. It has been his one idea, which is also the idea of all those connected with the Miami Jockey Club, to have a . plant that will please the best among the patrons of the sport. No expense-has been spared in any portion of the plant and the cost already has far exceeded the estimaes first given out by the architect and contractors. Mars Cassidy, who will be the starter here, is not expected before the first of January, at which time he -will have a gac put up for the schooling of horses at the barrier." In the meantime, Tom Brown, agent for tho Carl Wiedemann stable, who has officiated as starter at several meetings, has creced j his own barrier at the head of the quarter mile chute at the head of the stretch. He has i been giving several of the coming two-year-olds, aside from the ones from his own stable, some schooling at the barrier. Charles IT. Hughes, better known as "Trainer" Hughes, who will act as official timer for the meeting, came along witli Frank Taylor, who returned to New York from Miami to atend the E. F. Simms sale. "Trainer" has already written letters back to New York and Kentucky telling several of his friends about the Miami track and especially calling attention to the fine water at tho track. The city of Miami will soon have completed a big water main to bring the Hialeah water1 into the city to take the place of the present city water supply. "Snapper" Garrison, who has been here for some days, is already a real estate booster, and has made some investments in building lots at Miami Beach. John S. Ward is at present occupying a rented cottage, but has declared his intention of buying or building his house and making Miami his winter home in future. Frank Bray, who sent the Lilanc Stable horses along several days ago, lias followed and is just as enthusiastic as those who preceded him over the Miami track and Miami as a racing center. Gage Taylor prefers swimming to golf and, after the morning work is completed at the track; he is a regular visitor to the beach. He has a good start on the others of the racing crowd and will show championship form by the time the real season opens.
