Twenty Years Ago Today Chief Turf Events of Dec. 28, 1904 Racing at New Orbans, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Hildcbrand rode three winners at Ascot Park today. His total for the year is now 296. While riding in a race at Elko, New, a few weeks ago G. II. Thomas, who is training the chestnut gelding Expedient at Oakland, had the misfortune to lesa a hg. Two years ago Thomas rode in Honolulu for Prince David. In the early days of his career he exercised Cadmus for Adolph Spreckels and Flirtation for T. H. Williams. J. H. Young of Newport, who came to Lexington with a htter of introduction from J. B. Respess, has secured the signature of many central Kentucky turfmen to a petition to the board of stewards of the Western Jockey Club, asking that the racing dates for 1905 be so arranged that a turf war will be averted. Every breeder approached signed the petition. The stewards at New Orleans were dissatisfied with the ride jockey Munro put up on the 2 to 5 favorite, Joe Lesser, in the sixth race today. Munros instructions from the owner were to keep within five feet of the inside rail aud save ground all the way. He disobeyed the orders and messed the hor?e all about during the running of the race and finished third.
