MAPLE HEIGHTS RACING Ohio Jockey Club Meeting of 19 Days Begins at Cleveland, d Ohio, Today. CLEVEI.AND. Ohio, May 8.— The spring racing season in this city begins tomorrow when the popular mile track. Maple Heights, | | throws open its gates for the Ohio Jockey Club meeting of nineteen days. Never before since the resumption of the sport in this vicinity, has the outlook been brighter for some glorious racing, than at the present, and the prospects are that a tremendous crowd will welcome the return of the thoroughbred to Maple Heights, which presents a pleasing I and inviting appearance after a thorough overhauling. : The inaugural program is composed of ; eight races with the Xen Scott Memorial Handicap of ,500, for three-year-olds and over, at a mile and a sixteenth, as the principal attraction. A field of thirteen tried and true campaigners are named for this event and a spirited struggle should result. Pegasus is top weight with 119 pounds and such good ones as Miss Meise and Dustabout, each with 112, William Tell II., 109, Mer-cutio 103. Pirate Gold 107 and Broomster 10G, as prospective contenders. All the races have filled well and as the fields are evenly matched an afternoon of keen sport is promised on the first day of the meeting.
