E. R. BRADLEY COLORS » — First and Second in Main Race at Churchill Downs. * Blue Warbler Gives Striking Testimony of Her High Quality — Sir Peter Surprises. •— — LOUISVILLE, Ky., May 22.— E. R. Bradleys Idle Hour-bred Blue Warbler gave further evidence of probably being the best three-year-old filly, if not the best three-year-old in the country, by her impressive victory over seven others of her own age that will contest with her in the Kentucky Oaks, to be run on the closing day. Following her closest at the end came her stable companion, Buckwheat Cake, with Little Visitor, victress in the Ashland Oaks, following in third place. Blue Warbler was conceding from three to fourteen pounds to the others. She was away poorly, as was her stable companion, due to Little Visitor coming across from an outer position at the stait and impeding the pair sharply. It gave Litte Visitor an advantage, but Meyer managed to get Blue Warbler out of her difficulty surprisingly quick and going to the firs; turn she was in a prominent position, which was improved at the next turn, where she was in close pursuit of Little Visitor. Buckwheat Cake did not fare so well and she was in next to last place for the first three-quarters. HOW RACE WAS RUN. Little Visitor continued to show the way until well into the stretch, where Blue Warbler, hard urged, began gaining and at the same time Buckwheat Cake also got active and began forging ahead. Blue Warbler disposed of Little Visitor in the last sixteenth and suddenly Buckwheat Cake loomed strongly. Meyer, probably not noticing that it was his stable companion, urged Blue Warbler hard near the end and she won by a good leng ,h. Buckwheat Cake had the same margin on Little Visitor. Kitty Pat, coupled win Ruthermel, both regarded highly, tired fast during the stretch run. Of the others Bignonia raced well but tired. The Bradley representatives had proved dismal disappointments in the previous contest, which had been intended as a secondary feature. Breakfast Bell and Bobs Mary were the pair that were extensively-backed in it, but the finish found them just outside of the placed trio, Sir Peter furnishing an upset by victory over Glenister II., with Tangara in third place. With a high display of speed, in contrast to his preceding start. Sir Peter kept pace with Glenister II. and, disposing of him after going three-quarters, won handily. Glenister II. held on to second place. Tangara got third place by virtue of R. Williams poor riding of Breakfast Bell. He caused a loss of ground for the filly by riding her extremely wide in the stretch. SUMMERLIKE WEATHER. The weather was of the summer variety and another goodly attendance was on hand to view the racing. Finishes were again of the close order and hard fought Several of the winners came from unexpected quarters. Favorites continued to disappoint. The only successful ones were Accumulator and Blue Warbler. Both were at short odds. Dolly Bay, which has been racing consistently, was victress of the sixth race over twelve other two-year-old fillies, while Sam Mengel had the call in the closing dash, but was beaten handily at the end by Loretta Brooks, Sam Mengel outstaying Sincere for third place. J. B. Clohers Post Dispatch furnished an upset in the third race, which he won in a spectacular finish from Blue Stone, the pair racing head and head all during the last eighth. Post Dispatch proving the best. Following the two leaders came Kamkin, with Dandybrush, the favorite, far back. Post Dispatchs showing was a decided improvement over his preceding start. He was prominent from the start and, following Blue Stone closely, took the lead sa Uka stretch turn and held on gamely thereafter. Kamkin sulked at a critical period. Had he continued to do his trt*st he might have won. Dandybrushs showing was a dull one. Anderson and Kendles Accumulator graduated from the maiden ranks in the Bcoosxd race. In which twelve highly regarded casta started. Accumulator had an outer post position and being clear of interference dashed Into the lead before reaching the first turn, ■where the inevitable jam came and the race was practically over as far as first money was concerned. Torch, which bad been a close follower in the early stages, succeeded In disposing of Mib McOaa for second place.
