GIFT TO AUSTRALIAN TURF LONDON. England, April 9.— The king has given a gold cup for competition at the Flem-ington special race meeting in honor of the Duke and Duchess of York, states an Exchange message. The announcement has aroused great enthusiasm in racing circles there, as it is pointed out that no reigning monarch has ever before accorded his patronage to tho Australian turf in this manner. The Victoria Racing flub intends to add a stake of ,150 and the race will probably be a handicap over a mile and a half, which will allow wide scope for competition.
