BETTY ELVIUA was shuffled bark at the start, but passed the leaders afters entering the stretch and, closing a gap quickly, raced into the lead and outfinishe.l MONASTERY. The latter was ra.e.l wide most of the way but, finishing fast, outgamed DKI I. EVANS. The latter showed the most early speed and raced well in the final drive, but was outfinished. MAKE UP saved ground on the turns. but could never get up. LA BELLE was done in the stretch. POLLYMARA ran well to the stretch and tired. The latter raced into the lead briefly in the stretch after racing close up, but was unable to cope with BOB SPALDING. POLYCARP showed the most speed for the first half mile, but tired when challenged. TROMPING TO DAY ran well for a half mile and tired. LEVULOSE raced well.
