CONNAUGHT PARK MEETING Ottawa Organization to Throw ThrowOpen Open Its Gates Wednesday Banner Meeting Predicted OTTAWA Ont June 7 The Connaught Park Jockey Club will usher in its first meeting of 1927 here Wednesday and from all angles one of the best sessions of the above association should take place Never in the history of this organization has the plant presented a more picturesque appear ¬ ance and more interest than ever has been manifested by those that support racing in inthis this vicinity vicinityDuring During the idle months Alf Lajoie track superintendent of the Connaught Park course and his large staff of aides have been tediously at work in an effort to make the oval in the best possible condition for the meeting now at hand In addition these workers have left nothing neglected to pre ¬ pare for the comforts of the patrons patronsDirectors Directors of the Connaught Park Jockey iClub are sincere in their claim that the meet ¬ ing now at hand will eclipse all others staged by this young association Secretary and clerk of the course Thomas P Gorman pre ¬ dicts that with the good caliber of thorough ¬ breds now stabled here the meeting will pro ¬ duce the best racing that has ever been given to the rating public in this section of the Canadian Racing Association All stables are filled and with a good array of horses to draw from exceptional racing should take place placeSeven Seven races have been prepared for the opening day and all have filled well The Queen City Purse a dash at one mile is the stellar feature of the day while the Beaver dale Purse a threequarters sprint is a worthy semifeature semifeatureThe The big social day will be Saturday when Lord and Lady Willingdon will attend the races driving to the course in state They will be received by the directors with the usual ceremonies
