CONNAUGHT PARK NOTES OTTAWA Ont June S SJ J J Murphy local racing enthusiast who for a number of years has been campaigning a large string of horses over the Metropoli ¬ tan tracks of New York arrived from Bel ¬ mont Park with a string of five and quarters for the accommodation of his horses were obtained Those in the string include Carol King Lehr The Vintner and the good juven ¬ ile Outstep OutstepJ J L Donovan broke into the owners ranks when on the arrival of the J J Murphy horses from New York he consummated a deal whereby he secured the good threeyear old Captain Jack JackEd Ed Whyte custodian of the jockeys head ¬ quarters is suffering from a deep cold con ¬ tracted on making the journey to Ottawa Despite the cold Mr Whyte asked to be allowed to stay on duty dutyJ J Simon Healy arrived from New York with seven horses owned by various metro ¬ politan sportsmen sportsmenSecretary Secretary Thomas P Gorman announced that the directors of Connaught Park have decided to add more stabling quarters to the course The work is to be started immediately by a local contractor and his order calls for 100 stalls to be completed as fast as possible Three carloads of horses had to be released from New York on ac ¬ count of the shortage of stables stablesThe The arrival of the WilsonSalmon horses from New York augmented the racing colony and stable room at the present time is at a premium Several stables that arrived late were forced to ship their strings to the Aylmer Fair Grounds where the Connaught Park Jockey Club has secured enough stable room to handle the overflow
