Heath ended the career of the twenty-nine-year-old sire Pistol on February 27. After ailing for some time, Pistol wa-i found to be in a bad way in the morning and. shortly afterwards, dropped dead. Imported to South Australia in 1901 by J. H. Aldridge. Pistol carried on operations at the Richmond Park Stud. Adelaide. In first prize money only. Pistol, as a race horse, won 6,995. His progeny first started racing in the 1907-8 season, and throughout his career. Pistol sired winners of 1.592 races and ,082,9S0 in stakes. Ip to the time of his death. Pistol was probably the oldest sire in Australia. It was only last Saturday week in South Australia that he sired a winning double — Healo and Jules Jordan. A bay horse, foaled in 1899.
