# Q WORD OF APPRECIATION ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, 111., June 9. — Maj. Frederic McLaughlin, president of the American National Jockey Club, made the following statement regarding the success that attended the running of the American Derby at Arlington Park : "On behalf of myself and the other officials of the American National Jockey Club, I desire to express the heartiest appreciation over todays magnificent patronage accorded by the citizens of Chicago and surrounding towns. It was indeed a wonderful turnout and demonstrated that the people will support good clean racing. We have been at great expense and labor to give the people what they desire in the way of a real up-to-date racing plant, and our effors have been amply rewarded. The attendance and the enthusiasm displayed exceeded our fondest expectations. Wo are satisfied to know that patrons were accommodated without any unnecessary inconvenience. "In my opinion, II. D. Brown is the greatest race track builder and manager in the world, and it affords me pleasure to be associated with him in such a wonderful undertaking at Arlington Park. "I also desire to thank the newspapers of Chicago and other cities for their wholehearted support." i$ — — — — — — — and
