BOBASHELAS RETURN Comes Back After Recent Defeat and Wins Jennings Handicap Steeplechase to Taras Hall Air AirChief Chief Scores Vacant in inEasy Easy Style PIMLICO Md May 7 The Audley Farms fouryearold Bobashela came back after hia defeat by Crossco the other day to win the 6000 added Jennings Handicap at Pimlico this afternoon Running coupled with Sister Ship and ridden by C Ponce Bobashela was an easy winner when he galloped home a length and a half in front of Stream Line with his rider looking back all of the last eighth There were eight starters in the Jen ¬ nings Handicap and Extreme was the favor ¬ ite Sister Ship was in to force the early pace for Bobashela and she carried The Heathen along at a rapid clip in the run down the back stretch Extreme was third and appar ¬ ently going easily Bobashela was sixth Rounding the far turn the latter began to move up At the threeeighths mile pole Stream Line had taken the lead with Boba ¬ shela now in third place Entering the home stretch Bobashela went to the front and for the remainder of the way held command of the situation Crystal Domino slow to find his stride and far back at the halfmile post worked his way up on the outside rounding the far turn to finish with determination He beat The Heathen by a large margin for third place The latter was in front of Ex ¬ treme Bobashelas victory earned for the Audley Farm 5690 5690SPREADEAGLES SPREADEAGLES RIVALS RIVALSAir Air Chief spreadeagled his opponents in the first race and cantered home an easy winner In the early stages he raced Foun ¬ dation Stone into submission and on the far turn began drawing away until he had a lead of eight lengths over Millson at the end The latter was the runnerup most of the race Slate made a desperate attempt to get to the leader at the head of the home stretch but was unequal to the task Millson was easily best of the others and his backers were handsomely rewarded the 2 mutuel place paying 128 and 40 Blandris was third beaten three lengths for second place Hyp ¬ notism was never a factor at any stage and showed a dull effort for a horse which showed good form over a slow track trackMax Max Hirsch has developed Taras Hall the massive Donnacona gelding which races for E M Byers into a good steeplechase pros ¬ pect Taras Hall started with twelve others in the Linstead Steeplechase this afternoon and won in handsome fashion J Pierce had the mount and rode Taras Hall in a confi ¬ dent manner Indulging Landlord Mollie Elizabeth and Poplar Creek with the task of setting the pace to the last turn of the field Taras Hall responded quickly when called on and going to the twelfth jump took command to remain in front for the remain ¬ der of the race At the finish Taras Hall had a lead of seven lengths over F J Bu ¬ chanans Warrior Bold and the latter was four lengths in front of Warfain Poplar Creek tired badly in the last half mile to finish fourth Landlord jumped boldly and showed fine speed until he made a bad land ¬ ing at the tenth jump and lost his rider Mollie Elizabeth and Charlamagne fell at the sixth jump and Ortlieb pulled up after taking the twelfth jump jumpHAMPTOJflAS HAMPTOJflAS PROMISING PROMISINGTwoyearolds Twoyearolds were asked to race five eighths in the fourth race The Nevada Stock Farm furnished the winner in Vacant which scored in runaway fashion leading all the way to win in easy fashion by two lengths and a half Vacant was favorite and J Shanks was up In the early running Princetonian showed a flash of speed and raced in second position until the turn out of the back stretch where BirdieWrack passed him The latter raced in second place for the remainder of the race to beat the Ran cocas Stables colt Cheng Tu by three lengths for second place Hamptonian a colt from the Jeffords stable was fourth This was his maiden effort and he ran like one that should improve He showed speed in spots after dropping to last place When Fields made his move he went to the outside and lost much ground finishing in the middle of the track trackBaron Baron King scored his third straight vic ¬ tory at the Pimlico meeting when he gal ¬ loped to an easy victory in the running of the Worthington Purse this afternoon Begin ¬ ning from the extreme outside Baron King worked his way to the front in the run down the back stretch and after racing with Bella of Govans on the turn into the home stretch shook off the latter to draw away into a lead of two lengths He had things pretty much his own way for the remainder of the race and at the finish outstayed Donnay in easy fashion The latter wore down the tiring Belle of Govans to beat her a length for second place Equation was fourth fourthThe The Seagram horses that are racing here will leave Pimlico Sunday consigned to Toronto
