SON OF MIDWAY TRIUMPHS1 Highway Defeats Bozo and J A AWeil Weil in Feature Race at atFairmount Fairmount Park Course COLLINSVILLE 111 May 16 Racing right back to the form he showed a few days ago when he made his first start of the year Highway the fouryearold gelded son of Midway Thelma K accounted for the feature offering the Krey Packing Com ¬ pany Purse at Fairmount Park today Bozo finished in second place and J A Weil was third thirdA A clever ride by apprentice M E Meyers was the contributing factor in the victory of J H Edwards The Moon which scored by half a length over E E Majors Charming Lady which raced to second place with King at Arms the choice getting third money in a drive from Mat Hunter The alert Meyers had the black son of Hildur and The Widow Moon off in front and took him under restraint while setting the pace and although he had to be ridden vigorously to withstand Charming Lady he was never in immediate danger of defeat The latter was always a contender and worked her way up to almost even terms and finishing with good courage was gaining on the winner King at Arms just lasted for third place The winner was well supported by a smart play playSun Sun B registered her second consecutive win of the meeting when she proved much the best of the nine juveniles that met in the four and onehalf furlongs second race Night Flash held lightly in the speculation finished second with Nervator leading the others home for third honors honorsThe The winner delayed the start eight times when she unseated the inexperienced ap ¬ prentice E Decamillis but when the break came showed in front and displaying a brand of speed that brought her to the end within onefifth of the track record fin ¬ ishing with an eight length advantage over the despised Night Flash When young Decamillis pulled Sun B up she threw him again and the crowd had the opportunity of seeing the ridar of the winner trotting along behind his mount being led by the lead pony man back to the winners circle Night Flash got his placing by half a length over Nervator NervatorThe The performance of apprentice E Goodrich on Broad A which was second choice came in for some caustic comment which was justly deserving for the star rider handled the B B Rice representative in amateurish fashion and repeatedly got into trouble which ruined whatever chance he may have had Mrs J Keller won another purse when 1 Bunthorne scoied an impressive victory in the third race over Bearcry Coy and five others of the plater division Apprentice M E Meyers was astride the winner and this marked the second of the afternoon for the youngster who rated the Keller rep ¬ resentative behind the pace of Bearcry and Coy Never far back the diminutive rider waited with patience for an opening but the opportunity to slip through next to the rail failed to come when jockey C Green re ¬ fused to give up the inner position forcing Bunthorne to go outside That failed to retard the progress of the winner which raced past the tiring pacemaker and con ¬ tinuing with good speed got to the finish two and onehalf lengths in front frontUltimate Ultimate Vote threeyearold son of Raf ¬ fles and Smiling Voter carried the colors of Clayton Morris the Texas owner to an easy victory in the fourth Nugent Brothers Thomas Seth was the one to take second place with Domina In front of Selection Perjury and Mutual Friend which completed the field The winner proved best at all stages and after disposing of Mutual Friend withstood a determined challenge from Thomas Seth eventually drawing out to a four length victory
