ELECTION DAY, green at the barrier, began slowly, but worked her way up on the outside and finished with a rush in the last eighth and got up to win in the final strides. GALAVANTIER, close up throughout* overtook the leaders at the eighth post, but tired thereafter MISTY had a lot taken out of her racing DARK VISION into defeat and tired in the stretch, swerving across in front of DARK VISION and Workman, was forced to pull her up. FLAMING MAMIE began fast and, setting a rapid pace, drew away into an easy lead in the last eighth. THE NILE, also away fast, was unable to keep pace with the winner. GENERAL LEJEUNE had to be whipped away from the post and made a desperate effort to overtake the leaders, but could not close the gap. LOUIS O. was left at the post. Won driving; second and third the same. BEELZEBUB came again after taking the last jump and, fighting it out with CAWVOGE, outgamed the latter in the final drive. CAWVOGE, hard ridden in the last quarter, responded gamely and took the lead at the last jump, but stumbled in landing, which cost him the race. SYDNEY, a factor throughout, fenced well and shook off CRUMPLFR after taking the last jump. INDIGO lost his rider on the flat going to the eighth fence. BLANTON fell at the tenth jump. LUCKITE fell at the ninth jump and SIR JOHN L. ran, out of the course at the eleventh obstacle. Scratched— 55074 Prowler, 134; 540392Tod Sloan, 143. VERVE had a lot taken out of her racing WIG into defeat in the first three quarters. HEDGEFENCE wore down the tiring NAE BREEKS and outgamed him at the end. WIG was hustled along throughout.
