PLEASE, racing forwardly in the early stages, improved his position steadily on the turn and, wearing MORTIME down in the stretch, won going away under pressure. DUNNELLEN, prominent but racing wide on the turn, responded gamely under punishment and outlasted the tiring MORTIME. The latter held the others safe, opened up a long early lead, only to tire thereafter. ORKIN finished resolutely in the stretch. ANGRY PLUME, away forwardly, stumbled in the first sixteenth and lost ground, but gradually improved her position when in stride again and easily disposed of THE SPANIARD when straightened out in the stretch and won under restraint. THE SPANIARD, racing in improved form, took command with a rush in the first eighth and steadied in front while saving ground, failed to withstand the winner, but held on well. BOKIE B. began fast from outside the machine, raced JESSIE COPPAGE into defeat on the back stretch, then drew clear and, responding gamely when challenged, outlasted ELIZABETH FOX. The latter began slowly and in close quarters, but moved up fast when clear and was wearing down the winner in the final strides. DELUDE, on the inside throughout, saved much ground and held SINGLE KAY safe at the end. SINGLE KAY, away tardily, closed a big gap while racing wide. BAAL raced evenly. The latter, outrun for half a mile, lost ground when moving up on the turn and was racing fastest of all at the end. PATRICK -CALLAHAN, quickest to get going, showed the most early speed, then tired under punishment in the stretch. SHASTA LOVER tired.
