MARSHALL CASSIDY RESIGNS Will Dispatch Fields From Barrier at Agua Galiente for Last Time Sunday. AGUA CALIENTE, Mexico, March 25. Starter Marshall Cassidy will send the horses away from the barrier at Agua Cali-ente for the last time Sunday. The efficient official has tendered his resignation to the Agua Caliente management and Sunday will mark his last appearance in the stand unless he is prevailed upon to reconsider his action.- Cassidy, who has been serving as steward since the resignation of Walter H. Dupee, is in no small measure responsible for putting this lower California track on the turf map. A starter at Tijuana for six years before the opening of the palatial Agua Caliente plant, he put his shoulder to the wheel when the track was being built and made many useful suggestions which were adopted. Cassidy is the inventor of the stationary stall gate now in use at Agua Caliente and his work in his official position during a long period has been excellent. The majority of fans will regret his departure. President James N. Crofton when questioned today stated that he had not as yet received the official resignation of Mr. Cassidy and hoped that he would reconsider his action. Bryan Steele, former Cassidy assistant, and at present patrol judge and starter at the Agua Caliente track during the summer meeting, has been mentioned as his successor.
