CHARLEIGH came through on the inside in the early stages and, drawing away under mild restraint, set a fast pace and won with speed to spare. JAMISON began fast, was taken in hand when outrun, responded to urging in the stretch, but tired in the final drive. SWATTER improved his position steadily and finished gamely on the outside. FAIRENO moved into command at once, was rated along steadily and, given a breathing spell on the back stretch, drew away and held the others safe to the end. OSCULATOR improved his position and wore down FLAG POLE. The latter propped at the post, then improved his position on the far turn, but tired in the stretch and pulled up lame. GUSTO, outrun early, finished with a rush. POLO BAR had no mishaps. SANSARICA finished well. MAD PURSUIT tired badly at the end. SUNMELUS had no mishaps. JIMMY SUTRO was outrun.
