■ — - BLACK GOLD THE ILL-FATED Black Gold, the winner of more Derby i events in 1924 — to dignify all of them with the much abused term — than any other horse, was the property of Mrs. Rosa M. Hoots. He died at the Fair Grounds in New Orleans in January, 1928, after an unsuccessful comeback attempt.
