I SPORTSMANS PARK NOTES 1 ® • The veteran riders, P. Groos, D. Froggatte and T. Reno, had their first mounts of the meeting. Leroy Jones, who had the mounts on West Park and Leading Man, is attempting a comeback. He has not ridden since 1930 at Arlington Park, where he rode his last mount in a steeplechase. He has reduced from 127 to 114 M: pounds and hopes to do a lighter weight with more work. Jones is under contract to A. J. Brown. The Illinois Owners Claiming Handicap, scheduled to be run Thursday, failed to fill, due to adverse track conditions. Jockey R. G. Cooper, who fractured his right collar bone in a fall from Go Easy in the fifth race Tuesday, was out to watch the running of Wednesdays races. L. M. Severson was a visitor Wednesday, returning from Louisville, where he watched his Spicson run a very creditable race in the Kentucky Derby.
