ARLINGTON PURSES MAY GROSS ABOUT 500000 500000Distribution Distribution for Overnight Races at Meeting Alone Is Expected to Total 300000 300000Gross Gross purse distribution at Arlington Parks thirtyfourday meeting which opens Monday June 23 will reach and probably exceed the halfmillion dollar mark it has been revealed revealedA A glance at the proof sheets of the condi ¬ tion book for the first twelve days of the meeting which will reach horsemen next week shows that the overnight purses for days when there are no stake races are never less than 9200 This amount is made up of one race at 1500 three at 1200 one at 1100 and three at 1000 1000This This will insure a total of approximately 300000 in overnight purses The thirteen Arlington stake races represent a total en ¬ dowment of 115000 in added money The nomination and two eligibility fees already paid and the 1000 starting fees for the classic will add about 25000 to the gross value of that race Similar payments for Arlingtons two earlyclosing twoyearold races the Futurity and the Lassie are esti ¬ mated at about 20000 each eachDAILY DAILY AVERAGE OUTLAY OUTLAYThe The nomination and starting fees for the ten other Arlington stakes including the Stars and Stripes the Arlington Handicap the Matron Handicap and the Hyde Park Stakes should send the total distribution across the halfmillion mark This total means that the average daily purse distribu ¬ tion for the thirtyfour days will approach 15000 15000With With a similar schedule of distribution for Washington Parks coordinated racing pro ¬ gram which follows Arlington immediately it seems certain that horsemen will divide a million dollars of prize money during the eleven weeks operation of the two tracks In addition each track will distribute 7000 in awards to the most successful trainers jockeys and apprentice riders at the meet ¬ ings ingsThe The Arlington program is studded with six stake events in the first two weeks of the meeting the Myrtlewood a sixfurlong sprint on the opening day the Palmer Stakes for twoyearolds on Wednesday June 25 the Arlington Matron Handicap Saturday June 28 the Northwestern which preserves the conditions of the old Arling ¬ ton Inaugural on Wednesday July 2 the Stars and Stripes on Friday July 4 and the Lassie Saturday July 5
