MAY RIGIDLY CONTROL STEEL STEELWASHINGTON WASHINGTON D C May 30 Defense officials disclosed yesterday that more rigid control of steel distribution for defense pur ¬ poses may be invoked soon as the result of a new survey which forecast a shortage of 1400000 tons of the vital metal for 1941 and 6400000 tons for 1942 The shortage was predicted in a revised report submitted to President Roosevelt by Gano Dunn Office of Production Management expert In a Febru ¬ ary report it was believed there would be a surplus of 10100000 tons this yeaiv
