Ocean Wave to Be Given LetUp of Three Weeks WeeksClassic Classic May Be Next Engagement Count Fleet Causes Excitement ExcitementLOUISVILLE LOUISVILLE Ky May 1 Among the earliest visitors to Churchill Downs this morning was Warren Wright the owner breeder of Ocean Wave He watched Blenheim ns attractive and sharply im ¬ proved son spin off half a mile in 49 handily in this all important opener Following this move the Chicagb sports ¬ man trainer Ben Jones and a veterinarian carefully examined Ocean Wave They then conferred on the advisability of starting the Blue Grass StakesDerby Trial hero finally arriving at a decision not to send him postward in deference to his in ¬ jured left foreleg It was disclosed that Ocean Wave is suffering from strained ligaments above the heel in this limb limbTrainer Trainer Jones proposes a letup of about three weeks for the Calumet colt and an ¬ nounced that he will perforce miss en ¬ gagements also in the Preakness and Belmont Stakes perhaps rounding to form for the Classic and American Derby Some of the earlier birds saw a bit of extra curricular excitement when Mrs John Hertzs Count Fleet the torrid fav ¬ orite for the Run for the Roses all but ran away with jockey Johnny Longden Scores of soldiers and Louisvillians were strolling about the centerfield and lining the track rails as the Count came to the course for his gallop of once around There was an unusual amount of noise and bustle in last minute preparation to receive the Derby throng and Mrs Hertzs dynamic colt became excited and rank almost getting away from Longden as he plunged by the six and a half furlong pole poleAs As you might imagine there ensued some extremely anxious moments for both the mild mannered little rider and trainer Camer6n until the Count xwas finally sub ¬ dued In ail probability the colt would have been running yet had he broken Longdens hold on the reins
