Announce Minor Awards For Three Local Stakes StakesArlingtonWashington ArlingtonWashington Will Give Liberal Purses for Such Positions PositionsFollowing Following the recent announcement whereby three of the major stakes of the ArlingtonWashington Park season were increased from 30000 to 50000 added each the managements of the two tracks made known yesterday the respective values of second third and fourth monies in those events eventsThe The trio of stakes affected and their rtm ning dates are the Stars and Stripes July 4 Arlington Handicap July 31 and the Washington Park Handicap September 6 6Those Those horses who follow the winners in these great midsummer offerings will re ¬ ceive 10000 for second place 5000 for third and 2500 for fourth fourthNever Never in the history of racing has any program carried five stakes whereby it was possible for a winning horse to earn a total of 250000 or the other horses gaining a placing to receive such sums for their ef ¬ forts Despite the increases the nominating fees will remain at 100 for each event with 750 additional to start startClosing Closing dates for these three handicaps are as follows Stars and Stripes June 21 the Arlington July 19 and the Washington Park August 23
