Long Branch Meet Opens At Dufferin Park Today TORONTO, Ont., June 5. — The first ,t ; change in scenery in the local racing season comes tomorrow, when Dufferin Park pro- - | I vides the setting for the seven-day spring ! meeting of the Long Branch Jockey Club. Offering purses of equal, and in many cases, of greater value than more pretentious _ tracks throughout Ontario, gome of ,f i, t, ,t ; - | I ! _ of ,f the best sport of the spring season should be witnessed. Top offering of the Long Branch meeting is the ,000 Orpen Handicap, fashioned for three- and four-year-olds foaled in Canada, at one mile and a sixteenth. Last spring the stake was won by H. C. Hatchs Acara and should he duplicate his perform-n ance this year, he will receive double the winners portion of added money. The Or-g pen Handicap is slated for decision next Saturday. Other stakes programmed in-y elude the ,000 Long Branch Handicap at one mile and a sixteenth to be contested on the closing day of the meeting.
