He raced Contestor out in the first half and had enough left to stall off Sanders challenge in the last sixteenth. The latter ran a much improved race. Merry Day and His Royal Highness did their best, but could not get to the front. Vesuvian ran a good race and finished well. Scratched— 18324-Vulcain, 125. Blues was prominent all the way, but had to be hard ridden in the stretch to catch Prince Pepper. The latter ran to form and was at a false price. Tommy Atkins, slow to get to going, closed fast, but could not get up. He was all out at the finish. Holstein was outrun early but made up ground through the stretch and ran a good race.
