Big Gun made the running throughout and outraced and outstayed Philma Paxton. The latter got away poorly went wide on the turns and was badly handled, but was particularly favored by the soft going. Chara-wind fell far out of contention in the first mile and a half, but was coming fast at the end. Double Dummy quit badly after going the first mile and is in bad form. Tantalus Cup came from last place in the final quarter, finished like a cyclone and caught Knocknagow in the last stride. The latter drew into an apparently winning lead when a furlong out and was unprepared for Tantalus Cups tremendous rush at the end. Scottish Blue and Tom Lawson finished fast, and the last named is evidently above the average caliber. Hoxboro quickly opened a big gap on the field and appeared like making a runaway race of it in the first half, but quit in the last sixteenth. Tantalus Cup, show. 3 to 5. Knocknagow, show, 7 to 10. Red Knight, always well up, finished strongly and won going away, being much favored by the soft going. Warte Nicht finished fastr. W. R. Condon led almost throughout and appeared to be the winner, but unexpectedly failed to stay. Amorous went well. Ringdove was closing up very strongly and was probably best.
