Sevoy had speed to spare, made a show of his field and won pulling up. His improvement was sudden. Spring-wells was tiring at the end and was hard ridden all the way. Volma Clark ran a creditable race. The early pace was too much for her, but she finished strongly. Young Henry was cut off at the far turn and knocked back. This ruined his chances. Ontonagon was best handled, rated along with the leaders to the stretch turn and then came away and Robertson outrode Gormley when it came to a drive. Enue ran a good r,ace, hung on gamely and would have won with riders reversed. First Mason was outrun in the first part of the race and came strongly in the last furlong. All Souls mado his usual strong finish after beginning slowly. Our Sallie was cut off on the far turn and had to be taken up and showed improvement. Jessie Jarboe was at her best and Louden took no chances with her uutil in the last sixteenth, when ha eased her up. She had much the most speed and made a show of her field. Silk Cord had to be shaken up at the end to stall off Obstinate Simon and was tiring at the finish. Obstinate Simon moved up after passing the half-mile ground, but dropped back again on the far turn. He then came again in the stretch and finished fast next to the inner rail. He was cut off at the turn out of the backstretch and again near the quarter post, then caught the leaders tiring in the run home, but was driving to the limit to stall off Reservation. The latter finished very strongly through the last quarter on the outside and would have been first in another stride. Pathos and F. G. Vouch was under pressure all the way. Lady Silver tired at the finish. She was used up chasing Tobe Paine. Fessy F. closed a big gap and finished stoutly. Filibuster was well ridden and Gilmore allowed Great Star and The Elba to race each other into exhaustion, caught them tiring in the run homo and came away without much effort. The Elba ran to her best form and was under a hard drive all the last quarter. Too much use was made of Great Star in the first part and he had nothing left when the deciding drive came.
