Start poor. Won easily; second the same. Kinford was away tangled up, but closed a big gap and finishing with a rush ran a grand race and is worth remembering in better company. Mansard finished fast and qutgamed Moyle in the stretch run. Moyle was driving to the limit all of the last quarter and he had no mishaps. Went to post at 3:00. At post 7 minutes. Start good. Won handily; second driving. Bonner waited with Golden Light until in the last quarter before making his move, then caught the leaders tiring in the stretch run, but his mount had to be hustled along mildly at the end to stall off Mandamus. The latter was in a pocket for the first half and was crowded back at the far turn and had to pull up and go all around the field to get up. Frivol was much used in setting the early pace and tired. Grand Marais was away tangled up, closed a big gap and finished going fast. Scratched— 39150 King Tatius, 101; 391263Blackmore, 101; 39174 Nellie Bawn, 101. Golden Light, show, 3 to 5. Davis saved ground with her all the way and outrode Dieterle when it came to the deciding drive. Circular Joe was much the best, of the two and should have cantered home, but Dieterle allowed him to run out at the turn out of the backstretch. Mike Rice made a bad landing at the first jump, but was going easy when Pat My Boy bolted while going to the second jump and carried him out of the course. He recovered and finished fast, but was necessarily disqualified. Sauber did his best and was under a hard drive all of the last quarter. Islip went fairly well. Mrs. Grannan was going easily when she fell. Pat My Boy stumbled over her. Scratched— 39082 Tatar, 140. Overweights — Pat My Boy, 5 pounds; The Geezer, 5. Sauber, show, out. Islip, show, evens. Miss Mae Day raced Allan-a-Dale to subjection in the first six furlongs and came away fast in the stretch run. Allan-a-Dale ran well, but was probably a bit short. Monarka came very fast in the last fifty yards. Boaster went wide at the turn into the homestretch, but finished well. Belles Commoner looked big and quit from exhaustion after going a good half. Tancred did not run his race, nor did Bummer TL. Scratched— 39102 Glenwood, 94. Miss Mae Day, show, 3 to 2. The entry, show, out. SIXTH RACE— 3-4 Mile. Purse 00. 3-year-olds and upward. Khaki was well ridden. Davis avoided the early pace and Khaki finished fast, but had to stand a drive all of the last sixteenth to stall off John J. Regan. The latter closed a big gap after being interfered with soon after the start. The Boer saved ground at the turn into the homestretch, but tired when the final drive came. Grand Mary ran well to the stretch. Corrected weights — Jake Greenberg, 101. Khaki, show, 7 to 10. John J. Regan, show, 3 to 5. The Boer1, show, 4 to 5.
