Woolgatherer caught John Ruskin tiring after going the second turn of the field Galahad went lame. Zolos saddle slipped. Galahad was pulled up after the nineteenth jump. Andy Williams was taken back and rated .for the. first half and Odom made his run with him in the last half and caught Brush By tiring in the stretch run, but his weight was too much for him to contend with Claude. Brush By ran well, but weakened in the final sixteenth. The first three were the only serious contenders. Springbrook was used up in setting the early pace but hung on gamely. Lapidus was worn out in chasing Springbrook and tired in the last furlong. The others were never factors.
