Herodes was always a contender and ran to his mark. Aline S. finished gamely. Dr. Jones ran a good race under difficulties. Overweights — Ed Bishop, 2 pounds. The Black Scot, show, 7 to 10. Ed Ball had worked well for this race, displayed fine speed and great improvement over his two-year-old form and won going away. It was a brilliant performance, the condition of the track considered, and Ed Ball is evidently a good colt. Beautiful and Best showed speed, but tired as if short. Memphian, off badly, came the long way, closed up a lot of ground and won going away. Goudy was doing his best throughout and ran his race. Lou Beach showed improvement and put up a good stretch run. Gibraltar made up ground in a hurry from a poor start and then tired. Mada Bell showed a lot of early speed, but tired. Curd Gillock can do better. So can Tenny Belle. Taby Tosa laid in behind the pacemakers, came through next to the rail in the last sixteenth and just got up in time to nip the tiring Orris. The latter made most of the running and was used up in racing Prince Richard and Found into subjection. Found was •carefully placed to the stretch, then challenged Orris, but weakened under high pressure at the end. Prince Richard had no mishaps. Josie F. can do better. At post 3 minutes. Start good. Won hard held; second easily. Pathos made his move at the half-mile ground, caught The Wizard tiring in the stretch •arid won at his riders leisure. The Wizard showed the most early speed and ran his race, although too much used in the early stages. Margie S. stayed well and showed some improvement. Tammany Chief was allowed to drop out of it in the early part of the race .and closed up ground in the last mile, but could not get up. Georgia Gardner quit badly. The Messenger went well throughout, was in close quarters dn the stretch and ran in much improved form. Kisme finished gamely and ran her race. Xittie Clyde showed sudden and great improvement and would have been second in another stride. Virgie dOr gave it up in the stretch. Aules was given an easy race, in .a pocket all the way and was pulled up in the last hundred yards. Leenja, show, 3 to 5. The Messenger, show, 4 to 5. Kisme, show, out.
