Bronx began slowly, but came through next to the inside at the turn into the homestretch and finishing fast, caught Diaphanous tiring and got up in the last stride. Diaphanous showed much early speed and raced I Must into early submission in the first half, but tired when the final drive came. Duncan did his best, but could never get up and is probably overrated. Kings Charm closed up fast while rounding the turn into the homestretch, but quit when Munro drew his whip. Lolly Daily was used up in trying to keep pace with the leaders and was eased up at the end. i Scratched Burleigh, 103. I Bronx, show, 6 to 5. Diaphanous, show, 1 to 2. De Reszke ran in behind Mrs. Frandnk Foster for the first seven furlongs and was under restraint until well into the homestretch, then moved up and took command when called on and drew away in the last sixteenth. Mrs. Frank Foster showed the most early speed, but could not last the route, was tiring and had all she could do to stall off Captain Arnolds challenge at the end. The latter was ridden all over the track, cut the corner at the first turn and then went to the outside and covered more ground than either of the first two, but finished fast. Robbins had him under restraint for the first six furlongs, wore Bon Mot down while rounding the turn into the homestretch, took command in the last sixteenth and had enough in reserve to stall off a challenge from Witfull. Hicks laid too far out of it in the first part of the race with Witfull, came through on the inside at the turn into the homestretch and made up a lot of ground, but the filly tired after getting to Big Ben and swerved over to the inside in the last twenty yards. Bon Mot showed speed, but tired as if short. It was a three-horse race all the way. Scratched 43112 Huzzah, 100. Overweights Witfull, 1 pound; Sabot, 3; Bodul, 2. J Big Ben, show, out. Safety Light came away in the stretch with a rush after running in behind Worthington for the first six furlongs. Aladdin was under a drive most of the trip and ran as if he did not like the going. Thompson pulled Potheen up at the start. He then closed a big gap, finished fast and would probably have won with an even break. Worthington showed early speed, but tired and likes a shorter route.
