G00D TRAINING WORK AT NEW YORK. New York. May lo Some very good moves were shown ai both SUeepsiicad Bay and Oravesenil Sun day. and the horses that have been seasoned bv racing al Pimlico will find fit opponents when thev Come back to Belmont Park. The moves that are attract ing attention at his time are those of the candidates lor the Metropolitan Handicap, and the way those horses are going along leaves little doubt that the tielil will be both a big one ami a fit one. Andrew Blakeiey had Arasee out and sent him along for a handy mile in 1:45. He is showing that lie has all his sliced and among the lightweights he should give a gootl account of himself. Blakelev also -i ul Cowrea along tor three furlongs in Sand He has not been doing much with this ewe. Desirous went five furlongs in 1:05 and iatien Lass went in the saeae notch as Cowenv S. C. Hihlreth had his eligibles under sadtile and for the first time since Iheir return from California they were permitted to go along for useful distances. Thus far Hildreth had been content to canter them lor tinaiters ami halves ami in that moderate exercise they have shown that they have plenty of speed. Pita Herbert galloped along lor a mile in 1:44 hard held all the way. Joe Madden, another of the Mil dreth eligibles. went along tor a mile in 1:41! and was under restraint at nil stages of the move. King James, the best one from the stable, had Montgomery for his companion. They worked in 1:43 and it kept fh" I will let boy very busy pulling King James to that notch. Montgomery is not in the Metropolitan, but the move was one to Indicate that he is about ready for any of the big handicaps tot which he may be named. Restigouche. the other Hildreth eligible, went along for an easy mile in 1:44. Like his stable companions, he was restrained all the way and lie never seemed to be in better condition. Ilildrclh also had old Dandelion under saddle, anil the old son of Hamburg and Pansy showed that he is ready by cantering along for six furlongs in 1:17. The others of the Hildreth siring were worked usefully. Fayette is the most notable of the Metropolitan eligibles at the Belmont Park track, and he lias already been picked by many w1k went to Beaming as the most forward three year old of the season. Madden tilted him pretty Uioionghlv at the course of the Washington Jockey Club before he was shipped to Beliui lit Park, anil his task was only a ennter of a mile in 1 :4li. lie is I sure starter in the first big handicap of the year. Iu all. Madden has thirty six horses at Belmont Park, and thev are a particularly Impressive lot. The two year olds ol the stable are liberally engaged. F. A. Forsylhe, who has named High Private for i he Metropolitan, is another of the Belmont colony. All of his horses have been going along well since their arrival frees California and. High Prhrate, with his advantage of a thorough sessnanlai; ought to give a good account of himself in the opening handicap of the year. At Cravescnd the bright and particular metro tmliiaii Star Is Don Creole. Con Lt iglilon lias all along insisted that Don Creole is ■ good horse, and when lie ran third in the race last year, after over coming all sorts of hard luck, he stamped himself as being worthy of the rate. This s-pring he baa been training in excellent fashion, anil he was scan along for a mile this nioriiing in 1:41? ami had speed lift ill tin- end. From a time viewpoint flii-is probably llie heat move that has been sheers in preparation for the race. Don Create will have an other hard workout before |his lime ami he should surely be ready. ■awe had the Keene horses out at Shcepshcad. bin he tlitl not ask anything fast of them. His sat lie potltaa eligibles are Turncoat. Csspne ami Affliction. Bach one of them has BROWS excellent speed on occasions, and il would not be surprising to sec all three of them with colors up when the race i-ruii. Jack Atkin. the old favorile. is another thai is bring fitted SI Hie Bay. and he is moving along encouragingly. Jack never was a work horse, anil on rail-bird reports he cawM barely be backed to win a selling race, but Jack has il fashion of being there when the colors are up. Frank Cill with his stable companion, the three yearoiii Spellbound, and another one arrived al Crawseiitl. Ill the same ear with them came Airre.l Noble. Both Prank Gill ami the three year-eM have been training in Kentucky ami if will not take long lo have t Iii-iii til and ready for the colors. Cohort is one of the Knock Stable horses thai will be heard from early ill the racing year. Karrick sent him along for five furlongs iu 1:08 haadllv. ami all through the exercise lie wan led to rim faster. Karrick Is fitting Fas4ilon Plate for the Preakneas, to be run at Pimlico Wednesday, and his move yeslenlav was a mile ami a furlong in l:9fti. He cantered the first mile in 1:15. ami the move wis one lo suggest thai he is just .it i ready for the colors.
