MB MILLER f MAKES TACTIC AL BLUNDER v vSponsor Sponsor for AntiBookmakin Bill in Canada Loses Support as Result of OverEagemess Ottawa Out February 22 II II Miller member of Parliament for North Grey who i sponsor for the bill to prohibit race course betting has rather over ¬ reached himself in his eagerness for the enactment of that measure Yesterday he was taken to task in the House by two members of the committee and several who are not on the committee for his breach of parliamentary privileges in sending to the mem ¬ bers of the House a pamphlet advocating the bill while It is still before the committee This is prob ably the last straw in his antagonism of the com ¬ mittee of which he is chairman It is common report that live of the seven were opposed to the bill as It stands and Mr Millers latest break pzoliably will leave him without a supporter on the committee Tlie written argument of the counsel on both sides Is to be liled by next Monday and then the com ¬ mittee will take some time to formulate its report to Parliament It is imssihle that tlie Houe might not reach it this year but the opponents of the bill are liojKful that there will be legislation at this session in such form sis will be advantageous to racing ami end the question so far as Canada is concerned for another generation
