URGING AID FOR BREEDING INDUSTRY Horse breeding Is being urged in England for military remounts and the following from the London Sportsman of recent date is of interest interestAt At a meeting of the special committee of the Hunters Improvement Society on Wednesday Mr Homer Williams presiding Viscount Valentia M P president of the Polo and Riding Pony Society reported the willingness of his council to cooperate with the society in bringing to the notice of the government the danger to the country arising from the dearth of light horses suitable for military remounts The offer was accepted and Viscount Valentia was added to the subcommittee which is to submit to the hunter council a detailed scheme for giving1 effect to the proposals adopted on Febru ¬ ary 10 by the broodmare committee Those pro ¬ posals amount to a demand for a government grant to encourage horse breeding as is done by other countries The subcommittee will meet earlv to arrange for taking the evidence of breeders or in ¬ viting suggestions Meantime the members of both lords and commons are to be supplied with conies of the report of the broodmare committee empha ¬ sizing the need foi immediate national action and the secretary is to report on the way in which tho grant asked from the government should be al
