GOSSIP FROM KENTUCKY SOURCES. Louisville. Ky., July :; . — J. B. Respess has decided to transfer his racing string from Latonia to Chun-hill Downs. The shipment will include Winter-jjreen. the Kentucky Derby winner of HOB: Keiui-burse. BOMB, Hughes. Marathon. Imprudent and the two year-olds. Mayor Head. Lottery Man, Forehead. Belle of Brittany and Wishing King. The big band of yearlings owned by Mr. Kospess will not be brought here with the lacing string, but will remain new Cincinnati until time to pick out those which Mill be utilized for winter racing at Juarez. The owner of Kick Welles will take a full carload of horses across the bolder next November, as he believes the Mexico track will, the coming season, lie the scene of one of the most successful winter meetings ever held. Mr. Kcspe.- has a nice lot of yearlings and his band of weanlings he regards as the best he ever twaed. Among them are six colts and one filly by Dick Welles, as follows: Chestnut coll. dam Mary Lavanti. by St. Andrew; chestnut colt, dam Miss Mellon, by Milton: black colt, dam Keinember Me, by Maceo; chestnut colt, dam Winter, by Fxile: chestnut colt, dam Bessie Spahr, by The Commoner; black colt, dam Lass of Langden. by St. Carlo: chestnut tilly. dam Shawana, by The Commoner. The dams of these youngsters wore all winners and. though only a hort while in the stud, two of them have already attained distinction, as producers. Winter iK-ing the dam of a Kentucky Derby winner and Lass of Langden the dam of those two good racers, Lad of LaiiLden and Brace Kiee. Mr. Kospess also has several foals by Marathon, which were dropped last spring, tint he only mated that horse with five mares In 1MB and bred him only to a few this year. Marathon will be trained agiiin. bin when he is finally through racing Mr. Kospess will give him every chance in the stud and lobfcs for him to prove a successful sire by mating him with daughters of Dick Welles. The stable of T. C. McDowell will Ik shipped to Churchill Downs after the close of the Saratoga mooting. Besides Kings Daughter. KUen a-Dale. Iluek and Berwick. Mr. McDowell will also race here some two year-Olds which have been turned out nt Ashland Slud since last June. Among those is the Allan a Dale col!. Iromicr. and the filly. Attentive, by the same sire, both of which were winners in the early spring at the Kentucky Association meeting. He will also race lima, the Hastings and Momirka tilly. the coming fall. lima is his 1jll Kentucky Oaks candidate. The Oaks is a race in which Mr. McDowell baa been especially fortunate, having captared it in 1800 with Bash, iii 1.mh witli Kings Daughter and in 1906 with Kllen-a-Dale.
