ANSWERS TO QUERIES. II. A. D., Hamilton, Ont. The straight and place bet on Executor called for the return of .95. C. W. II., Des Moines, la. The last meeting at Oakland took place In 1911 and came to an end February 15 of that year. W. S. II., Cincinnati, O. The "past performances"-of the horses engaged in the race inquired about would seem to furnish an answer, but outside of any specific performance the average form of the horses Is always considered. A. C. E., Cincinnati, O. Overweights are posted before the race is run. A "stake race" is a race closed for entries some time prior to its running, to which the owners contribute prescribed sums for each horse entered. Such races are frequently handicaps. G. B. S., Chicago. Last year Briar Path won six races, of which the last one was won at Jamestown, November 20. Tills yiar she has won two races, her victory at Cliarlcstown last Thursday, Included. If that race was excluded, she had not won two races Inside of a year prior to December 4, and K. won his bet. J. iM. L., Cincinnati, O. Claiming only appertains to selling races. Winners must be offered at auction and only beaten horses can be claimed and that only by owners having a horse In the race. Run-up money is divided between the second horse and the association. A horse sold Is delivered on payment directly after the sale. Deductions for apprentice allowances are made at the track before weights are published. An overnight race is one to which entries are made the day previous to its running.
