WAR SPIRIT A CHAMPIONSHIP STARTER LEXINGTON, Ky., September 23. Just before departing tonight for Cincinnati Emil Ilerz said: "I shall spend tomorrow at Latonia and then go on to New York. If I find upon my arrival there that AVar Spirit, the three-year-old halfbrother of Ruckhorn and Midway, which I bought last week, has been doiug good work I intend to send him to Latonia to ruii for the Latouia Championship Stakes." AVar Spirit is by Aulcaiu Thirty-third. Ilerz bought him out of a selling race last Friday at Aqueduct for ,500, and on Saturday refused 1919.sh,000 for him. This morning he received a telegram from Phil T. Chinn requesting a price on the gelding. His response was that he would be in New York Thursday.
