JAMAICA RACING IS UNINTERESTING Favorites Are Routed Pickwicks Defeat in Main Race Biggest Upset. K XEW YORK, X. Y.. October C The Belgrade Selling Stakes was the chief offering at Jamaica today and it furnished a decided upset in the defeat of Pickwick, the odds-on favorite. R. L. Breslers Ultima Tlmle was the one to take the measure of Pickwick and he did so in a convincing manner, leading all the way and holding the Clancy racer safe from start to finish. Hack Hay, the only other starter, ran well, but tired near the end. There was little to enthuse over todays sport, the winners having a good margin to spare in nearly every race and the backers of favorites being completely routed. Thunderbird was the first offender, the Coe racer finishing third to Heavy Weapon and Bridge Player in the opening dash, while in the following race Tenons Ron, the favored one, proved no match for Albert A., which won in runaway fashion. linllybell was next to fail, but Shoot On, the winner, was well backed so less disappointment was expresed over the defeat of the first choice. Kilkenny was considered to have the fifth race at his mercy, but finisli in third place was the best he could do, while Chief was the suffered from interference in the last, and although courageously endeavoring to overcome this early handicap could do no better than finisli second. King Plaudits condition upon examination Is worse than trainer George Odom thought. The colt, it was found, has a badly bruised hoof and a ruptured tendon and will not be shipped to Latonia for his engagement in the Latonia Championship Stakes. War Note was claimed out of the third race Saturday for ,000 by his owner. Nash Turner claimed End Man for ,200 out of the fourth race Saturday.
