FOR BIG REVIVAL OF STEEPLECHASING NEW YORK, N Y December 30. An effort is lieing made by sportsmen of this country to bring back steeplechasing into its own. To this end a letter was sent out today by Frank .T. Bryan at the instigation of the National Hunts Committee, which is composed of members , of the National Steeplechase and Hunt Association, to attend a meeting to 1m? held Januiry 12 at thu Coir.inodore Hotel for the purpose of building up all t-nds of the sjwrts in which the borse is concerned. The idea is to revive and invoke military interest in steeplechasing. ik1o. hunting and other- pastimes. Upward of 350 invitations have been sent to all interested in .such sports throughout the country. Among those who will attend, will be many military officers., gentleman riders, polo experts and men interested in outdoor pastimes. Quite a number of prominent speakers huve been asked to attend to help the revival Of steeplechasing, which is at the lowest watermark in twenty years. The late war has caused a shortage of horses and" gentleman riders, and the intent of the meeting is to bring back the scattered shi-tsincii to further the steeplechasing branch of horse racing, hunting and ldo. It is anticipated that upward of three -hundred advocates of outdoor f ports and exercises will be present.- -
