MORE RAIN AT LOUISVILLE Both Tracks in Wretched Condition Poison Horses Arrive from Tijuana LOUISVILLE Ky April 9 The heavy rain of Friday morning was augmented by another down ¬ pour of several hours duration last night and as a result both tho Churchill Downs and Douglas Park race tracks were in miserable state this morning Tho opening of the Kentucky racing season is too close now however for the trainers to lose another day with their horses and a large number were given workouts in the deep mud Quite a few Kentucky Derby eligibles were given stiff gallops at short distances in preparation for good workouts tomorrow which is the regular scheduled workday for most of them Brother Batch and Coyne can ¬ tered threeeighths of a mile at the Downs and Ben Bolt was also opened up for a trial to ¬ morrow morrowThis This track will in all probability be fast for these workouts as superintendent Tom Young had his force working on it throughout the day so that the Derby candidates can get good gallops A strong wind aided by plenty of sunshine did much to remedy conditions conditionsThe The only Derby colt to be given a work today was Sir Thomas Kean from Lloyd Gentrys stable He covered a mile in 152 at Douglas Park the first half in 53 53The The W F Poison horses which raced at Tijuana were unloaded at the Downs last night Those of 0 A Bianchi and C T Worthington which came in the same car went on to Lexington LexingtonJockey Jockey Harry Lunsford was an arrival from his home in Covington Ky He will ride for the Florisant Stable throughout the Kentucky circuit circuitTrainer Trainer John T Flanegan was receiving congratu ¬ lations today over the arrival at his home yesterday of a baby boy weighing nine and onehalf pounds Flanegan will leave for the East in the near future futureVic Vic Henderson came in from Bowie where he stopped off for a few days en route home from California and Hot Springs Ark ArkThe The C W Clark stable will not go to Lexington but will await the Downs meeting to begin its spring campaign United Verde one of the Derby candidates in this establishment will not be a startej jn the big race Hia loot ailment la heal ¬ ing buptne time Is too short to train him for such a hard race raceJockey Jockey Newton Barrett who will ride the Clark horses at the Downs and Latonia will go to Lex ington to accept mounts mountsTwo Two more foals arrived at T M Murphys farm near this city yesterday One is a bay filly by Golden Maxim Billows and the other a filly of the same color by Boots and Saddle Hasty Chick Eleven more of the Murphy mares are yet to foal foalAzurita Azurita which Williams Bros purchased in Cuba has been fired in both front ankles by Dr 1 Harthill
