PLEADING FOR THE TWO THOUSAND Riicing lias IKMI prevented in England for some time past on account of stress of labor troubles and some important meetings had to be abandoned But the Two Tlwusand Guineas is scheduled to be run at Newmarket on Wednesday of next week and the One Thousand Guineas on the succeeding Friday On account of the importance in English racing and breeding of the first two of the five great classics of racing the government is being strongly urged to permit their being run on their appointed dates a special point made being that they were allowed to lit run throughout tin more distressful years of the Great War Now that the fear of a general strike has been dissipated it seems probable the desired permission will be granted
