races for threeyearolds will be decided today Both are rich in historical lore mellowed by age The Latonla Derby always run at the true Derby distance of a mile and a half is Kentuckys offering while the Belmont Stakes will engage the attention of New York racing devotees Both aru richly endowed and well worth winning Strange both have suffered alike in respect to the size of the fields that will contend for the glory and prize money that go to the winner winnerOnly Only six out of a grand array of ninetyseven nominations have been named to start in the Latonia Derby Two of these are Behave Yourself and Black Servant first and second in the Kentucky Derby and it looks like another Derby for Mr Bradley In the event that Behave Yourself wins it will mean 5000 additional to the stake the conditions specifying that The winner if also the winner of the Ken ¬ tucky Derby to receive 5000 additional The prospective starters are Behave Yourself Black Servant Rangoon Uncle Velo and Brother Batch BatchThe The Lafonia Derby was established in 1883 so today will be its thirtyninth running During the lirst four years it was known as the Hindoo Stakes Lconatus ridden by the marvelous colored jockey Isaac Murphy was its llrst winner Murphy rode live winners of this race three in a row Among the many great horses which triumphed in the Latouia Derby Ben Brushs success in 1895 following his
